Many of you will have a longing for making video calls from your Iphone by Skype. But so far this feature isn’t supported. Cross your fingers because Skype is about to launch video calling for Iphone 4 with 3G support and also for Ipod touch 3G, soon. This update allows IPhone users to make and receive Skype-to-Skype calls, and to call mobiles and landlines around the world at very low rates for the first time over their 3G data connection, probably this update will make Skype a killer app. Skype has been having some problems lately, with all crashes and bugs and what not, but recently Skype announced that they would participate at one of the panels for “Video Calling” at CES. Skype is now working to reappear after the recent service problems it had given all its users around the world. Have a look with the insights of this pre-launch; you will bounce high in the sky.
This update will bring a trial period, that you can make calls from Skype to Skype on 3G for free until the end of 2010 (operator data charges will be applied). However, Skype-to-Skype calls over Wi-Fi will still remain free. Details of pricing will be announced in the coming months and will be in line with Skype's commitment to providing customers with great value.
At first, facetime restricted their callers that they were only able to call through Wi-Fi and for this they had to find a spot for Wi-Fi connection. Skype will take-off this hurdle and will let you call using 3G networks which have been a vast demand for times. So keep up the conversation with Skype everywhere you go, and wherever you want to call in the world. If you turn your device into landscape mode, the camera picture will automatically rotate. In both portrait and landscape mode double tapping anywhere on your screen will zoom the picture to take up the full extent of the screen. Double tapping again will take the picture back to its normal size. But, iPhone does not support group video calling. While on a Skype video call the sound will always be played through the loudspeaker, unless a headset is plugged into the device. At any time during a Skype video call you can choose to turn off the video. Tap the Camera button and select the No Camera option. To turn the video back on tap the Camera button again and then tap the camera you want to switch on.
