Nokia N8 vs Apple Iphone-Which one is better ?

The first thing is to be considered that, lets face the inconvenient truth for there is no smart phone on this planet which deserves the worth to be the perfect one, but still you can assume that there is one out their. The two top mobile manufacturing companies Nokia and Apple have made their best to produce Nokia N8 and Apple Iphone 4, those smart phones for meeting better high-ends considering looks and multi-tasking abilities with strong attributes and shed-load features. Both the gadgets are the candidates for perfect smart phone yet, so who wins the race for this hold, lets see !

By having a look at these factors, you will be able to know the difference and might have suggestions for which smart phone is better.

Price: Having an advantage for price, Nokia N8 take over Iphone by its price tag of  Rs.48,000. Comparing Iphone4 (unlocked) 16 GB costing about 79,900. That’s whole lot of remarkable variation.

Operating System: N8 is powered by New Symbian^3 OS while it may have ironed out a lot of the niggles, such as constant confirmation requests. Whereas Iphone is powered by IOS4 with a hand full of multi-tasking abilities to get serious on your business and boost up your daily use. Apple wins here due to its efficient OS with nice margin. However Symbian^3 is also very efficient for enhanced working.

Screen Size and Display: Both the phones have touch screen and screen size measuring 3.5”. N8 having 360*640 pixels and Iphone 640*960 with a retina display technology which crawl back the demerits of Iphone, having its screen results with clarity and much more effective but N8 have less power consumption and have sharp results but with small pixel results. Hence Iphone wins the ground considering screen, but Nokia N8 also has enabled AMOLED Technology to provide better contrast levels and richer colors.

Camera: N8 in this situation gets quite a upper hand with its Carl Zeiss Optics 12 Mega Pixel Camera with the largest sensor ever to be put in a mobile phone having Xenon Flash, where as Iphone only offers 5 Mega Pixel camera. That’s far lot a difference, but this is true that the quality results of Iphone camera doesn’t lack as the pixels do.
Both phones do come with video editing software installed on the phone. This makes it easy to share both photos and video from both the N8 and IPhone.

Processor and Hardware: The Nokia N8 supports a 680MHz processor and a separate accelerator to deal with 3D graphics. This is paired with 256MB of SDRAM and 16GB of onboard storage space, expandable via micro SD memory card. The Iphone has the same processor as the iPad running an ARM architecture which is good for 1GHz but is believed to be under clocked to save the battery and reduce heat. 512MB of eDRAM is onboard for multitasking and either 16GB or 32GB of storage is available depending on which model you choose. In practice both of these phones seem to pack the right amount of processing power as slowdown or stuttering is rare and plenty of tasks can be handled at the same time. But Nokia N8 having its configuration slight low regarding hardware doesn’t lack any speed.

Multi-Tasking Capability: Although the Apple IPhone 4 OS offers basic third party multi-tasking, Symbian ^3 the Nokia N8’s operating system is designed to handle as many apps as possible with a dedicated GPU to take some of the load off the processor, the hardware on the Nokia N8 is also perfectly suited to multi-tasking as it is discussed earlier.

Micro-Sim Issue: The Iphone have the requirement for inserting micro-sim whereas this type of sim can only be available if you consult your provider and in most of the cases you don’t get this very easily, so it results in that you however need to insert the sim and carry on with your work so you can cut-off the extra part not needed to be inserted and you will have your work done but that sim now will only be able to run on Iphone neither any of the other mobile phones, due to its small size. N8 doesn’t have this issue.

Extra Features: There are features lacking in Iphone which only can be found in Nokia N8. Nokia N8 Mini HDMI out port letting you plug your phone into your widescreen TV and pump HD video content straight to the big screen. Videos shot on the N8 camera look great blown up to that size and it sure is easier to see compared with the small 3.5″ screen. It also plays back sound in 5.1 Dolby surround quality – pretty lovely. The IPhone 4′s Face time video chat is billed as the killer feature of this phone, though the Nokia N8 also a front-facing camera which allows for video chat.

USB on the go: What if you have a lack of data storage though you can avail the memory card, still need more ? Nokia N8 is here with its USB On-The-Go allows users of the N8 to plug USB devices such as flash drives, external hard drives and card readers into their shiny new phone with the help of an adapter that comes with the sales package. This support up to 1 TB of hard drive. So this is another very handy feature as any file can be viewed played and copies from the external drives.

Applications: Iphone gets the access for being a better mobile for application support and 300,000 applications awaiting to be downloaded. The Application Store has generated real success stories like Angry Birds and has become the benchmark when it comes to quality and volume of software. However N8 has the OVI store with fewer apps as compared to those of Iphone but still has its hold.

Data Speeds: The N8 supports HSDPA 10.2 Mbps while the IPhone is slightly lower down the order with 7.2Mbps. Now, if you are stuck with 2.75 G because of the oppressive prices tag 3G might come with, let us also remind you that the IPhone supports only class 10 GPRS which is slow. On the other hand, with the N8, you are far better off here with it supporting EDGE networks. Simply put, mobile internet with the IPhone would be a painful experience.

Multi-Media with HD: The modern world is all about HD and HQ multi-media content so for this sake Nokia N8 have captured every review and preference for better Video results. So, there’s nothing better than being able to hook up the Nokia N8 to your HDTV and show all your mates your recordings. However, while the Nokia N8 can output video in 780p, the Apple IPhone is restricted to 576p using an Apple Component AV cable.

Conclusion: One would prefer Nokia N8 for being a Multi-Media Handy Mobile phone with sharp camera results ever and snap on the go and also better video capturing, it has great user interface. Whereas another preference would be given to Iphone by those who want to organize their business and get to the top of the events in a well organized way.

What’s your say, which one better suits you and fits your criteria considering Merits and Demerits of Nokia N8 and Apple Iphone 4 ? As it might help in resolving any issue concerned with any of the smart phone”
